We not only award grants to single heads of household pursuing college degrees, but we also keep in touch with them and continue to support their dreams.
Shown here, Gaylyn Boone invited the family of Chuc Le over during the Holidays. Gaylyn and her daughter Patty taught the children how to make Christmas cookies. Cookies and cocoa, plus gifts and meaningful conversation were enjoyed by all.
As of January 2019. Chuc is now in her Junior year at Mesa College. She's pursuing a special 4-year Bachelor's degree in "Health Information Management." She's a math wiz!
Chuc's daughter is enrolled in a charter school at UCSD, and her two sons are now nine years old and in 3rd grade/
Chuc continues to struggle with covering costs, in particular books and tuition. SILJ members help in any way we can.
